上

• above (～の上に)
  • The bird is flying above the tree. (鳥が木の上が飛んでいる)
  • The clouds are above the mountain. (雲が山の上がにある)
  • The plane is flying above the city. (飛行機が市の上空を飛んでいる)
• on top of (～の上に)
  • The book is on top of the table. (本がテーブルの上にある)
  • The cat is sitting on top of the box. (猫が箱の上に乗っている)
  • The hat is on top of his head. (帽子が彼の頭の上にある)
• over (～の上を通り抜ける)
  • The bird flew over the house. (鳥が家の上を飛んだ)

• under (～の下に)
  • The cat is hiding under the bed. (猫がベッドの下に隠れている)

  • The book is under the pile of papers. (本が紙の山の下にある)
• down (～の方へ)
  • The sun is going down. (太陽が沈んでいる)
  • The birds are flying down to the ground. (鳥たちが地面に向かって飛んでいる)

奥

• behind (～の後ろ)
  • The house is behind the tree. (家は木の後ろにある)
  • The man is standing behind the woman. (男は女性の後ろに立っている)
  • The car is parked behind the other cars. (車は他の車の後ろに駐車されている)
• in back of (～の後ろ)
  • The store is in back of the restaurant. (店はレストランの後ろにある)
  • The library is in back of the school. (図書館は学校の後ろにある)
  • The park is in back of the neighborhood. (公園は近所の後ろにある)
• at the back of (～の奥に)
  • The book is at the back of the shelf. (本は棚の奥にある)
  • The train is at the back of the platform. (電車は駅のプラットフォームの奥にある)
